Which car seat would be best for my child?

my baby is really big for his age!! He was 5kg at birth and now at 11 weeks is 8.5kgs so will soon have hit the limit for this car seat to be rear facing!! i just wanted to know if when he is 9/10kgs and i turn the car seat around to be forward facing does he need to be able to sit up or will it be ok just as long as he is at least 9kg??

    Hello

    Thanks for using community.

your child is nearly ready to go forward facing with the weight but also needs to be sitting up unattended for periods of 20-30 mins a day for 6-8 weeks.

What i would advise is :

Baby Weathers Shuffle SP car seat 0-10kg rearward,9-18 forward

Britax First class 0-13kg rearward,9-18kg forward
    http://www.kiddi.im//3194

This is all dependent on the car that the seat will be going in to.If its possible you could let me know the make and model and also the year and i would be happy to give you a rough guide to if it will fit.To be 100% sure we would need to do a visual test fit in our showroom in Peterborough
    I hope this helps

we already have the baby weavers car seat and are using it rear facing but what i mean is what do i do when he reaches 10kg but cant sit up because i am sure he will be that weight before sitting as he is sooo big?? can it be turned to forward facing at that weight even if he cant sit up or can he stay rear facing beyond that weight?? i also have a graco car seat 0+ up to 13kg but he is so long that his head is pretty much at the top so that is why we came and brought the baby weavers one but i am now wondering what to do when he gets to 10kg?

    Hey Stace,

Unfortunately you cannot move little one forward facing until reached the correct and safe criteria. This is all because of the support of the neck, the child needs to be able to sit up to withstand any chance of an impact whilst little one is forward facing.

    If little ones head is at the highest point of the seat or the child is 10Kg, and little one can't sit up unaided then the only option would be these seats;

Britax First class 0-13kg rearward,9-18kg forward

    http://www.kiddi.im//3194

    http://kiddi.im//32

    http://kiddi.im//3204

This is because these are all suitable for up to 13Kg, apart from the BeSafe selection as they are suitable upto 18Kg.

Unfortunately this is the only option.

    I hope this helps,

    Kind Regards,

    Ben.
